The Racer

Meet Evan
In 2024, when this journey began, Evan was just 16 years old and some people were already saying he was too old to start.
“You should have started racing mini motos at age 5, Evan.”
Unfortunately, we cannot change the past. What we can do is refuse to let it define the future. It may mean we have some catching up to do, but that only makes the journey more meaningful.
As many of you know, Evan was formally diagnosed with Autism at the age of 15. His mum had recognised from the age of 2 that he experienced and approached the world differently.
Evan was home educated from the age of 10, and although the signs of Autism had been recognised early on, his dad chose not to continue with an earlier assessment. At the time, he admits he simply did not fully understand Autism and worried that giving Evan a label might allow him to use it as a limitation or excuse, especially as he was already proving himself to be incredibly street smart and capable in his own way.
Despite the challenges, Evan has always shown determination, focus, and a unique way of seeing the world, qualities that now fuel his passion for racing.
This is only the beginning of the story.

Autism Support, Awareness & Understanding
Autism affects people in very different ways, and every individual’s experience is unique. Like many families, our understanding of Autism has grown over time, and with that has come a greater appreciation for the strengths, challenges, and different perspectives that neurodiverse individuals can bring to the world.
If sharing Evan’s story helps even one parent, young person, or family feel understood or encouraged, then it is worth telling.
